Sunday's Sermon

October 16, 2011 --- Temptation.  Something with which we all have to deal.  But why?  Where does it come from?  Why does one thing tempt me, but not my neighbor?  Join us this Sunday as we take an indepth look at this subject.

What's New!

Come worship with us in 2011! We will be delighted to have you as our honored guest. We are a Bible-centered church with Bible-centered worship. Our theme for this year is "Aiming for Heaven in 2011!" and we are working hard to achieve it.  You will find us to be a group of loving, hard-working, God-fearing New Testament Christians.  Come visit us and see for yourself!

Hispanic Mission

On December 2, 1998, under the eldership of the Airport Church of Christ, the Hispanic Mission held its first worship service. There was only one Hispanic family; the Pablo Casas family. For the first weeks of this ministry this family was the only one in attendance. In January of 1999 a door knocking campaign at the Ortega Migrant camp of Culpepper Road, in Southern Lowndes County, was conducted by the Airport congregation. There were fifty-five visitors at the first Hispanic service conducted after the door knocking campaign.

In the following thirty-four months, thirty-six baptisms were performed through the work of this mission. We have assisted the Hispanic communities when the request have come with performing marriages, funerals and counseling during bereavement periods, some of the request have come as far away as Morven, GA. I represent the Airport congregation and Hispanic Mission as a volunteer Chaplain at the South Georgia Medical Center.

Since that first Sunday in January 1999 the Hispanic Mission has averaged fifty in attendance at its Sunday service, going as high as one hundred twenty-five during the harvest season. In March of 1999 a mid-week service (Bible study) was added on Thursday nights. Transportation is provided to the members of the Hispanic Mission by the Airport Church of Christ using the buses owned by the congregation.

The Hispanic Mission is able to provide food to those in need and supply clothing through our own Clothes Closet on a monthly basis. Food distribution is every last Thursday of the month after Bible study and clothes distribution is every last Sunday of the month after worship service.

The Hispanic Mission provides a meal each Sunday after the evening worship and a snack after the mid-week service. Most of those in attendance are migrant farm workers who finish their work just in time to attend the services and don't have time to eat a meal before they leave. A Thanksgiving meal is provided on the Sunday before Thanksgiving Day and a Holiday meal is provided on the Sunday before the Winter Holidays with gifts included to all those who are present.
